Delete a channel

Don't need a certain channel anymore? Fear not we have a way by which you can delete it!

To delete a channel, you need to be its admin and the last remaining member too.

You can ask channel members to voluntarily leave the channel or manually remove them from the channel. When members leave (or are removed from) a channel, the last remaining member becomes the channel admin, and they can delete the channel.

Desktop
  • Click on the channel’s name at the top.
  • Verify that you are the only channel member by deleting/removing other channel members.

  • Click Icons_LeaveChannel.png to leave the channel.

  • You’ll be notified that the channel will be deleted. Confirm.

Android
  • In a channel, tap on the channel’s name at the top.

  • Verify that you are the only channel member.

  • Tap on Leave Channel.

  • On Clicking Yes the channel will be deleted.
iOS
  • In a channel, tap on the channel’s name at the top.

  • Verify that you are the only channel member by deleting the other members within the channel.

  • Long press on the channel members names and choose to Remove from the channel.

  • Tap on Leave Channel.
  • The channel will be permanently deleted. 

 

alert-warning Once a channel has been deleted, all data shared within the same will be permanently erased. It would NOT be possible to retrieve this data.
