Why am I not receiving Flock notifications on my OnePlus phone?

Technical Explanation: Currently, OnePlus devices block a few background services. Thus, Android notifications are always forwarded to the app’s background service first, and then displayed in the notification area of your phone. As this is a device-specific requirement, there is no way for Flock to display a notification without sending it to the background service.

Here’s how you can fix this issue:

Step 1: Enable app auto-launch  

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Tap on Apps
  3. Tap on the Gear icon
  4. Scroll to the bottom to App auto-launch
  5. Find Flock in the list of apps and toggle to enable notifications

If you are unable to find the above settings or if you still face problems in receiving notifications, your phone may be optimizing its battery for performance. Here’s how you can solve the problem:

Step 2: Disable battery optimization

If you are on OS 4.1.1:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Navigate to Battery
  3. Tap on the overflow menu (the top right three dots)
  4. Tap on Aggressive doze & app hibernation and toggle to disable it, if not disabled already.

If you are on on OB4:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Navigate to Battery
  3. Choose Battery Optimization (above the graph)
  4. Tap on the overflow menu ( the top right three dots)
  5. Tap on Advanced Optimization and toggle to disable it
